  • April 9, 7pm – Whirled Pies
  • May 7, 7pm – Whirled Pies
  • May 21, 7pm – Whirled Pies
  • Final Showcase at WOW Hall: May 27, doors at 8pm, show starts at 9pm

Throughout the course of the event, contestants will be judged using a 10 point system based on technical performance, originality of songs, professionalism, stage presence, vocals and audience reaction. Our panel of judges will feature a TBA trained songwriter, and Keyboardist/Composer/Educator Seth Mulvihill of LCC, as well as one enthusiastic music fan each night. We want to make the judge panel balanced from a technical and real world point of view.

“Our biggest problem with most events of this nature is their tendency towards becoming a popularity contest, and really – music isn’t about competition, its about expression.” says owner Thaddeus Moore, “Our goal is to use this as a chance to promote and showcase the vast amount of talent this city has to offer, and to give the bands/artists participating a chance to receive real-world feedback and constructive criticism about their live performances, directly from a qualified group of music lovers. Everyone involved will get a better idea of exactly how their performance really hits the crowd, and where they can focus to improve. Also, this process will help them understand how to present themselves in a professional manner for booking, promotion, and preparing for live shows with technical details and venue requirements.”

To enter, click here to fill out and submit this application form.

Once you’ve applied, your submission will be reviewed and you will be considered for one of our twenty open spots. In order for us to be able to put together contiguous shows, some bands may not be selected. This is in no way a reflection upon the quality of your music, we just have to try to put together shows that make sense!

{As an alternative to submitting links through the form, you may come into the Sprout City Studios and record a demo (of at least 3 songs) for a special, discounted rate of $35/hr. When you fill out your application, let us know that this is what you plan to do in the field where you would normally post the links. Note that this does not excuse you from the rest of the application process, all other fields will still be required. If you choose this option, your application will be complete once your application is accepted and your session is booked and paid in full.}

All shows at Whirled Pies begin at 7pm, with a suggested $2-$5 donation. The showcase at WOW hall will be held on Saturday, May 27th 2017, 9 pm, $12 in advance/$15 at the door. This is an all ages series.
