In October, we began a new weekly tradition….
Free Tuesday Night Song Salon!
Inspired by similar writing workshops popular in Nashville, this is a free public event geared toward showcasing original songs from local artists to the community. Here, musicians have a chance to play songs they’ve been working on to a small focused audience of fellow artists and music lovers. Later, artists can get feedback, new ideas & critique from attendees, in order to perfect their songs.
Performers are encouraged to play original, work-in-progress pieces, then spend time listening to the rest of the evening’s performances. This creates a chance to brainstorm with other performers about your respective projects, meet new people in the local music scene, and hear opinions on your songwriting from your audience.
Although we’re spending our Tuesday evenings masquerading as a music venue, Sprout City is a full service recording studio. Consequently, we’re all set up to record everyone’s performances live! If you want a copy of your song, we’re happy to help. Just $10 per song.
With the recent decline of the number of music venues in Eugene, we feel the need to try that much harder to bring people together through music and give artists a place to reach their audience directly. This event is free and open to all ages, with a $2-$5 suggested donation to help cover costs.
So far, Tuesday Night Song Salon has seen artists from a wide variety of genres… jazz, soft rock, indie, bluegrass… it’s been a surprise every week! We’re excited to continue fine-tuning this event to appeal to audience members and performers alike. We hope you’ll join us soon for an intimate evening of music, coffee, and creativity.
